At UM.KC, we strive to foster a culture of tolerance and acceptance, celebrating the diversity of faith and embracing the richness of different spiritual traditions. Our Core Doctrine: Our guiding principle is a simple yet profound message: "Do what is right, live fruitful lives, be true to ourselves and the God each of us worships, while causing no harm to others, and accept the individual's right to worship as they see fit within the laws of their respective countries."A Welcoming Community: We extend a warm invitation to all individuals seeking spiritual growth and connection, regardless of their faith background. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Psalms 122:6"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you be secure." Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.Where there is hatred, let me sow love;where there is injury, pardon;where there is doubt, faith;where there is despair, hope;where there is darkness, light;and where there is sadness, joy.O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seekto be consoled as to console;to be understood as to understand;to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive;it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Universal Ministries of the King’s College (UMKC)as a Church: A Framework for Inclusive Spiritual Growth**Exodus 15:18: "The LORD reigns forever and ever."**By Archbishop Professor Noppadol Konkam PhDCEO of Independent Religious Institute and Church The Universal Ministries of the King’s College (UMKC) presents itself as a nondenominational institution, grounded in the fundamental principle of respecting the individual's right to practice their own faith without external interference. This commitment is rooted in the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, safeguarding the freedom of religion and the inherent right to worship according to one's own beliefs. UMKC further upholds federal legislation that grants every church the inalienable right to establish legal clergy and appoint legal ministers within its framework. A Universal Approach to Ordination: UMKC embraces a broad and inclusive approach to ordination. Any individual who subscribes to the Doctrines and Church Articles of UMKC may request ordination. This request can be initiated online or through postal mail, with the actual ordination ceremony conducted through the Milford, Illinois church. Notably, physical presence is not a requirement, as individuals may grant UMKC permission to conduct a symbolic ceremony on their behalf, followed by a formal electronic proclamation to all those who have provided their email addresses. This inclusive approach signifies a belief that ordination is a right inherent to all legal churches, not merely a privilege reserved for specific denominations. Historical Context and Theological Foundations: UMKC draws inspiration from the historical context of the Reformation and the influential pronouncements of figures like Martin Luther. Luther's assertion that all individuals possess the God-given right to baptize, thus placing them within the priesthood of God, resonates with the UMKC philosophy. Similarly, Jesus' declaration that all who accept him are part of his priesthood, and Buddha's assertion that enlightenment leads to a union with the divine, highlight a shared universal truth: a path to spiritual fulfillment is open to all. A Diverse and Inclusive Community: UMKC stands apart from other churches by its deliberate choice to function as a truly independent, nondenominational institution, offering a non-denominational ordination process that aligns with the legal frameworks of all states. This framework fosters an environment where members from various denominations and faiths can come together, share their beliefs, and contribute to the ongoing spiritual growth of the community. The Core Doctrine: The foundational doctrine of UMKC embodies a universal ethos: “Do what is right, live fruitful lives, be true to ourselves and the God each of us worships, while causing no harm to others, and accept the individual's right to worship as they see fit within the laws of their respective countries.” This principle serves as a guiding beacon for the community, fostering a spirit of inclusivity, personal responsibility, and respect for diverse expressions of faith. A Call to Spiritual Exploration: Through its ongoing expansion and engagement with a diverse membership, UMKC seeks to share the diverse beliefs and practices of various spiritual traditions. The organization invites not only Christians, but also individuals from Jewish, Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, Episcopalian, Baptist, Catholic, Quaker, Methodist, Presbyterian, Wiccan, Pagan, Baha'i, and other faith traditions to join in the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment. The Holy Grail of Spiritual Growth: Recognizing the unique path of each individual's spiritual journey, UMKC emphasizes the importance of personal discovery and the search for truth within one's own life. It acknowledges that spiritual growth comes from finding "the Holy Grail" within oneself, through a process of individual exploration and revelation. This commitment to individual spiritual growth is further reflected in the Statement of Faith, outlining a set of principles that guide the UMKC community. Statement of Faith:1. Non-Hierarchical and Non-Denominational Structure: UMKC believes in a church organization that is non-hierarchical and non-denominational, where ministries operate as independent affiliates united by a shared purpose of spiritual growth and service to humanity. This fosters a sense of equality and mutual respect, recognizing that each ministry plays a valuable role within the broader framework of the church.2. Embracing Diversity and Openness: UMKC encourages its ministries to welcome each other with openness and respect, transcending preconceived notions and judgment. This spirit of openness and acceptance is essential for fostering a truly inclusive community where diverse faiths and beliefs can coexist and learn from one another.3. Accountability and Transparency: UMKC emphasizes the importance of accountability to both God and fellow members in all aspects of belief and action. This commitment to transparency and ethical conduct reinforces the integrity and trustworthiness of the community.4. Mutual Education and Growth: Recognizing the boundless nature of wisdom and knowledge, UMKC encourages a constant exchange of teaching and learning within its ministries. This mutual exchange fosters a spirit of continuous growth and development, enriching the collective understanding of spirituality and faith.5. Compassion and Forgiveness: UMKC believes in the power of compassion and forgiveness, encouraging its members to offer guidance and support rather than condemnation. This emphasis on understanding and empathy fosters a safe space for personal growth and encourages members to confess their shortcomings without fear of judgment.6. Mutual Support and Collaboration: UMKC encourages its ministries to support and defend each other, recognizing that the collective pursuit of spiritual growth is strengthened by unity and collaboration. This principle highlights the importance of a community that stands together in times of need, offering encouragement and assistance to all its members.7. Servant Leadership: UMKC sees its ministries as serving a position of servant leadership, guided by compassion, love, and spiritual faith. This commitment to service emphasizes the importance of providing comfort, aid, and encouragement to all those seeking support, reflecting the core values of compassion, empathy, and service.8. Love and Unity: UMKC emphasizes the importance of loving one another, recognizing that true religiousness is a journey of personal growth in God, not simply adherence to dogma or ritual. This commitment to love and unity fosters a community where individuals from different backgrounds can come together in service of a higher purpose. Through these principles, UMKC seeks to build a vibrant and inclusive community where individuals from all walks of life can find spiritual fulfillment and contribute to a world characterized by compassion, understanding, and service to humanity.
